Our friendly relationship with Douglas Cordeaux, the owner of the legendary Fox Brothers mill, led us to Kenichi Kusano. He is the founder, designer, and owner of Kenneth Field. A Japanese collection whose pieces draw inspiration from the tradition of classic workwear, U.S. Army icons, and the classic Ivy League style. Kenichi—known to his friends as “Kenny”—is a one-of-a-kind one-man show, driven by immense passion and a meticulous attention to detail.

Here is his "Shetland Gurka." A pair of chinos featuring the distinctive waistband of the historic Gurkha pants.

The Nepalese soldiers serving in the British Indian Army took particular pride in their appearance and had perfect dress pants tailored based on the pattern of their riding breeches. Later, these cuts reappeared in the chinos worn by West Point cadets.
